Devin Thomas played his college ball for Michigan State; he’s currently in vogue amongst draftniks and NFL websites across the internet and certainly appears to be a player on the rise.
Thomas went from being a mediocre Juco player to being a second team Big 10 All-American. He had a breakout senior year catching 79 passes for 1260 Yards and 8 TDs. He’s also a kick return ace, returning 39 kickoffs for 1,135 yards, an impressive 29.1 yard average.
 He has a very good combination of size and speed, and impressed many with his performance at the scouting combines. He has the tangibles to fit into a pro passing offence.
What we like about Thomas
The obvious thing is the surprising 40 time that Thomas ran at the combine (4.40), however there is more to Thomas than speed: he’s built like a prototype NFL receiver with long limbs and upright stature. He fights for the ball too; numerous times last season Thomas made great effort to gets his hands on the ball to make a catch or stop a defensive back from intercepting the pass. He also runs well after the catch.
He is more of an all-round receiver than some of the other top receiving prospects, and even blocks well in the run game.
Question marks over Thomas
The biggest question mark over Thomas is the fact that before his senior season he had only made 6 catches in his career at Michigan State.
He did not make as many deep catches you would expect from a player with his measurables , and it seemed he would struggle to get separation when playing against better cornerbacks.
His weakest event in the combine was the vertical jump where he only registered 28, which is very low for a wide receiver.
Highlight of his College Career
 Playing in his senior year against Joe Paterno’s Penn State, Thomas had 7 catches for 139 yards and 3 touchdowns.
