NFL Draft 2010 NCAA Scouting
Diner Writer’s 2010 1st Round Mock Drafts
April 9th 2010

Here at the Diner we have thrown a few mocks into our menu over the past couple of weeks. All taste a little different and some require a delicate palette. So, just like your local pub might offer you a meal deal of buy one get one free we offer you a read one, get three free (don’t say that after too much house wine!). Anyway, we’ll do this three times before the draft, trades aren’t included but look out for our next effort next week and a final one on the eve of the draft proper.

*Acquired from Bears; **Acquired from Broncos; +Acquired from Panthers

It’s an interesting first take with the crusts at the top and bottom almost identical but lots of differences in between. The ranking and order of offensive tackles is interesting in that each mock has its own ideas. For example, three of us believe the Washington Redskins, fresh from the Donovan McNabb acquisition, will add an offensive tackle but not the same one. Eric Berry is Paul Hopkin’s alternative choice but can the Redskins justify another top ten pick on a safety, especially with Laron Landry’s disappointing return thus far?

Jimmy Clausen is all over this first round. Brian Davis clear thinks the Browns brain trust is still capable of doing unexpected things whilst I see Clausen as a massive loser from the McNabb trade with a possible #4 spot now being closer to a 4th from bottom spot.

Jody Jamieson is taking the combine results seriously with his high placing for Bruce Campbell and Taylor Mays. Jody clearly thinks Mad Al Davis will be blinded by speed once again.

Popular agreements QB Sam Bradford to the Rams, DT Gerald McCoy to the Buccaneers, OT Brian Bulaga to the Chiefs, DL Dan Williams to the Broncos, LB Rolando McClain to the Giants and LB Sean Weatherspoon to the Saints. We also have some popular agreements on positions with the Redskins going OT, the Titans going DE, the Steelers adding a corner and the Bengals adding a safety.

Popular disagreements We’ll just cover the top half here as things get more different as the mocks go on. No one has a real grip on what the Raiders are doing so that’s all of us applying for any front office jobs Al Davis might advertise! The Miami Dolphins pick also splits us all. The 49ers picks are different but we all have the same kind of needs being addressed.

44 different players are used by our writers to fill the 32 spots in each mock.
